Branson is known for its dedication to patriotism and honoring those who serve our country. This year, the community will gather to commemorate the 23rd anniversary of the tragic events of September 11, 2001, through solemn ceremonies held at College of the Ozarks and Branson Landing.
College of the Ozarks: “A Place of Honor”
A special 9/11 ceremony will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 11, at 9 a.m. at College of the Ozarks to honor the lives lost in the tragic attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. The ceremony will take place at the Lest We Forget 9/11 Memorial, located next to the Point Lookout Fire Department on James Forsythe Drive, on the College campus.
Special guest Sonja Maria Lohmeyer, U.S. Navy Reserve Captain and CEO of Assuage Leadership and Strategic Planning, will share her personal experience from Washington, D.C. on 9/11.
The event will also include a welcome by General James P. Schreffler, music from the College of the Ozarks Concert Band, the raising of the 9/11 National Remembrance Flag, a presentation by fifth-grade students from the S. Truett Cathy Lower School, and a symbolic volley led by Fire Chiefs Ted Martin and Chris Berndt.
The public is invited to attend.
Branson Landing: Honoring America’s Strength
The 9/11 Branson Remembers ceremony will take place at Branson Landing from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. in front of the fountains on September 11th. Hosted by The Brett Family and the Branson Veteran’s Task Force, this beautiful and moving ceremony is held in observance of the tragic events that forever changed the world on 9/11/01.
The ceremony will honor the nearly three thousand lives lost, as well as the brave actions of first responders and the U.S. military. All are invited to attend this free event, which offers a time of healing, remembrance, and reflection.
A Community United in Remembrance
Branson’s 9/11 ceremonies are not just events; they are a testament to the community’s unwavering support for the men and women who serve this country and protect its freedoms. Whether you attend the ceremony at College of the Ozarks, at the Branson Landing, or one of Branson’s memorials — these gatherings provide a chance to reflect, remember, and honor the courage and selflessness displayed on that unforgettable day.
