Wonders of Wildlife National Museum & Aquarium
The Johnny Morris Wonders of Wildlife National Museum and Aquarium — also simply known as Wonders of Wildlife — is a premier not-for-profit conservation-focused attraction in Springfield, Missouri. Adjacent to the Bass Pro Shops National Headquarters, this expansive 350,000-square-foot facility is named after Johnny Morris, founder of Bass Pro Shops. It is divided into two main sections: the Wildlife Museum and the Aquarium.
The Wildlife Museum features immersive galleries that bring visitors face-to-face with the world’s most extensive collection of record-setting game animals. These exhibits are enhanced with taxidermy animals displayed in meticulously crafted dioramas of various natural habitats, alongside historic artifacts, artwork, films, and special exhibits like the Boone and Crockett Club’s North American Heads and Horns Collection.
The Aquarium, boasting a 1.5-million-gallon capacity, is home to 35,000 live fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals. It offers themed environments such as an ocean shipwreck, a Louisiana swamp, an Ozark forest, and the Amazon rainforest — providing a vivid journey through aquatic life.
At its grand opening, Johnny Morris described the Wonders of Wildlife as “an inspirational journey around the world that celebrates the role of hunters and anglers as America’s true conservation heroes.” This facility is a tribute to any who hunt, fish, and/or act as stewards of the land and water, highlighting their crucial role in conservation.
