BRANSON, Mo., September 17, 2013 – “Information received from the city of Branson indicates that the REV3 Triathlon, which will be held in and around Branson on Sunday, September 22 has the potential to impact traffic during the morning hours,” said Tammy Johnson, the Director of Operations for the Branson Tourism Center. Johnson explained that the REV3 Branson competitors, from all over the nation, will swim, bike and run a total of up to 70.3 miles following a similar route as past “Ironman”Triathlon events.
To accommodate the event several roads will have limited access or detours between 6 AM and 1 PM, with one route, Route 465, commonly called the “Ozark Mountain High Road,” being completely closed from 6 AM to 1 PM. After the swimming portion in Table Rock Lake, the REV3 competitors will leave “Moonshine Beach” on Route 265/165, and follow Route 265 to Route 76 and Route 465. After competing loops on 465 the racers will exit onto Route 248 back into Branson.
During the bike portion of REV3 “Law enforcement officers will direct traffic at these state road intersections where traffic signals will be put on flash:
Route 265 and Route 165
Route 265 and Route 376
Route 265 and Route 76
Route 465 and Route 76
Route 248 and Shepherd of the Hills Expressway
Route 248 and Gretna Road”
Once back inside the Branson City limits “riders will go through the Stockstill Park trail to Skaggs Road, through the roundabout and into Belk’s parking lot at Branson Landing. Branson police officers will be stationed at the roundabout to halt traffic as the bikers ride through and on James Epps Road as they move into Stockstill Park.
After transitioning to the running portion of the event at Belk’s parking lot they will follow and repeat a course down “Branson Landing boardwalk path – Bass Pro parking lot-Lake Dr. – Shore Lane-Canal Street” – to Alexander Park where they will turn around and “return to Branson Landing in reverse order.” The course will be repeated twice with the race and event ending at the Branson Landing Fountains.
Branson Tourism Center’s Johnson suggests that those planning to travel near the REV3 Triathlon’s bike course route should plan alternate routing to avoid the course, be alert for traffic control personal and allow extra time to get to their destination.
